Marino New Residence

Client Brief

The client had a million dollar view with an existing house that was tired and small. The client wanted to achieve a new entertainers home that takes advantage of the ocean views. The client enjoys entertaining and wanted a low maintenance , modern home to enjoy over a glass of red with their friends. The sloping sight posed a challenge and the client wanted to utilise an indoor/ outdoor feel.

Design Theory

Exterior
We used a combination of materials including “matrix”, blueboard, and custom orb while keeping the colours simple and white. This highlights the architectural design and suits the coastal position of the home. The rear deck is set at a level to take in coastal views.

Interior
Simplicity was the key, again whites were the inspiration. Beautiful timber floors to living areas and deck provide warmth. The home was split to allow easy entertaining while giving the kids a quiet sleeping area. The master bedroom and living area all open onto the deck, again maximising the million dollar views. The kitchen is simple and functional with stone tops and a window splashback.

Results

The home is now a modern comfortable home with million dollar views. Materials have been kept natural for a timeless feel. The high use areas—family and master bedroom– open onto the deck with stacking doors that open up giving the home a holiday feel. The client has a home that is made for relaxing for their laid back lifestyle.
