Bowden New Residence

Client Brief

The client wanted a modern home that incorporated numerous materials and architectural styling with an attention to detail.
Given strict encumbrance guidelines in an urban renewal zone, and a corner site requiring attention to three elevations, the project created some design challenges.
We needed to come up with a practical and stylish solution as well as adhering to a restrictive budget.

Design Theory

Exterior
This home incorporates the use of a range of external finishes including timber panelling, Hardies planking and texture coating. The use of soft neutral colours is contrasted and complimented by the western red cedar cladding which is again mirrored in the fence panelling.

Interior
The lower level houses a master suite including walk-in-robe and large ensuite as well as a spacious casual living area including gourmet kitchen. This area opens on to the outdoor entertainment area and deck. Upstairs there are two more bedrooms, another bathroom and open plan living/ study area that is connected to the front balcony. The appeal of timber is mirrored inside in cupboard finishes. And stone bench tops reiterate the appeal of natural finishes.

Results

This unique custom designed and built home not only blends into its surroundings but brings together a raft of finishes creating an impressive new home. Attention to detail and the use of natural and complimentary materials ensures this property is a one off home. The layout creates separate zones for adult children and allows cohabitation by all members of the family.
